Life as a Student Naturopath
Studying Naturopathy is a rewarding experience, blending science with natural health principles to address the complexities of the human body. At Torrens University (formerly the Southern School of Natural Therapies), I’m immersed in a diverse curriculum—Functional Nutrition, Advanced Herbal Therapeutics, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology. These subjects are underpinned by evidence-based practice, ensuring that the knowledge I gain is grounded in rigorous scientific research. My hands-on experience takes place at the Student Wellbeing Clinic in Fitzroy, Melbourne, where I apply this knowledge to patients under professional supervision, gaining 460 placement hours that will be pivotal in shaping my practice.
Coming from a background in beauty therapy, I initially sought ways to heal the skin internally. However, the deeper I ventured into Naturopathy, the more I realized that true healing goes beyond the surface. The Naturopathic philosophy of treating the root cause resonated with me, and it became clear that I wanted to help people achieve optimal health, not just at a cosmetic level but at a systemic one.
As I move forward, my goal is to specialize in metabolic health and weight management, using the comprehensive knowledge I’m gaining to make a real impact. The combination of scientific evidence and Naturopathic principles provides me with the tools to offer a well-rounded, effective approach to health that addresses each person’s unique needs.
I’m excited to start consulting in 2025 and look forward to welcoming you at the clinic on Main Street, Mornington!
